Bringing Math to the People / Bringing People to the Math
How often do I bring math to the people? Quite a lot.
How often do I bring people to the math? Not as much as I'd like.
I'm convinced that the latter is better for learning. How do I do this?
Math to the People =
*giving facts
*scripting lessons & worksheets
People to the Math =
* Building on existing knowledge/interests and curiosity.
* Letting go of "the plan" and where I think a conversations will or should go, and letting students be explorers in math
This is so much easier said than done.
